America on the Road Radio LogoWhenever there is a newly updated Porsche to talk about, we celebrate, and that is certainly the case this week. The legendary German brand has ripped the wrapping paper off the heavily revamped 2024 Porsche Panamera sedan, and we’ll have the important details.

The third generation of the sporty luxury sedan emphasizes width both in its exterior shape and its even broader digital offering. (You see what we did there?) In the 2024 Panamera, Porsche is attempting to bridge the gap between comfort and sportiness. To further that valiant effort the carmaker is offering the most recent version of Porsche Active Ride suspension.

The new Panamera will also offer improved E-Performance with more power and greater range. Tech heads will appreciate the car’s enhanced roster of innovative driver assistance systems. We’ll have more details.

Also in the news, Elon Musk and Tesla Motors are under fire again after a Florida judge ruled that Musk knew the company’s Autopilot system had defects but did nothing to stop the system from being used unsafely. And speaking of self-driving cars, the drama continues at General Motors as the company tries to re-boot its troubled Cruise self-driving effort. We’ll give you the details and our take coming up.

In our road tests this week, Co-Host Chris Teague will tell us what it is like to tool around Maine in the 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70. The slick, luxurious battery-powered EV is a North American Utility Vehicle of the Year finalist, and we’ll discuss its chances of taking home the crown.

Also, in the road test segment, Host Jack Nerad will be road-testing the 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country B5 AWD Ultimate. For those of us who remember the terrific Volvo station wagons of the past, this provides a strong dose of nostalgia. Part of Nerad’s test included a Thanksgiving weekend trip to his in-laws. How did that go? We’ll have all the details for you.

This week our special guest is Andrew Moir, a key member of the design team responsible for the all-new 2024 Hyundai Kona crossover SUV. Jack Nerad had the chance to talk with him at a recent event about the challenges of redesigning a very successful vehicle. We think you’ll appreciate what he has to say, so stay tuned for that later in the show.
