Axel Walter is the product planner for the all-new Volvo XC40 crossover sport utility vehicle that is being introduced to the American market as this is written.
In this interview he describes the characteristics that make the XC40 a different animal from its larger XC60 and XC90 siblings (or as Volvo puts it, cousins.) Volvo is taking risks with the XC40 that it declined to take with the XC90, because it feels the XC40 customer will be younger and more willing to live on the edge, and Walter tells what those risks are.
Over the course of 12 minutes or so, Walter reveals the unique features that Volvo believes will put the XC40 at the top of the small premium SUV segment.
