The automotive world is buzzing over the global introduction of the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS, and we’ll tell you all about it in this episode of America on the Road. The introduction featured not only a laundry list of Mercedes-Benz executives but also film director James Cameron and recording artist Alicia Keyes. The new EQS is designed to deliver pure-electric driving with a level of sophistication, luxury, and technical excellence that meets or exceeds the high marks achieved by the S-Class flagship sedan. The aerodynamic four-door has a claimed 480-mile range on a full charge of its battery pack and some versions will offer as much as 750 horsepower.
This week our special guest is Dustin Krause. Dustin is Director of eMobility North America for Volkswagen. He just completed an epic cross-country trip in the Volkswagen ID.4 crossover utility, and host Jack Nerad caught up with him on the last leg of the journey. He had some interesting things to say about the ID.4 EV and traveling cross-country in a battery-electric SUV.
In the road test segment co-host Chris Teague will take a detailed look at the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4. A dedicated do-it-yourselfer, Chris used the Canyon as a key tool in his yard clean-up operation, and he’ll tell us how it fared.
Also in the road test segment, Jack Nerad drove more than 700 miles in the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, the 702-horsepower super truck. He discovered that not only does the TRX have awesome performance abilities, but it is also a vehicle that can be used for day-to-day activities and cross-country highway drives with the entire family.
Should you buy a new car or a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) car? Jack and Chris will give you their well-educated opinions on that query in the listener question portion of the show.
